Connections, bearing and the engineering drawing in Edmondson Park NSW

Most defect arguments are about tolerance, and tolerance arguments are slow. A connection that does not match the engineering is different, because it is a comparison rather than a judgement: the drawing shows one arrangement of members, brackets and bolts, and the frame has another. That finding was recorded twice on Austral frames, on two different jobs, six kilometres from here. Alongside it sat not enough bearing at an external lintel, a bottom plate discontinuous under a loadbearing and bracing wall, and a steel column simply not installed. Each of those is a fact rather than an opinion, and each is invisible after lining.
